Anti-inflammatory and Anti-ulcerogenic effect of Crotalaria juncea Linn. in albino rats.
Authors
Abstract:
Crotalaria juncea (Leguminoceae) has been used for its antiarthritic effect in the folklore medicine. The purpose of this study was investigating experimentally the possible antiarthritic and antiulcerogenic properties of Crotalaria juncea leaves in animal model. Ethanolic extract of Crotalaria juncea (CJE) was administered at the doses of 200 and 400 mg/kg to complete Freund’s adjuvant (0.1 ml) induced arthritic rats. The effect of CJE, compared with standard indomethacin was measured. Treatment with CJE decreased the inflammation compared to the standard group. Antiulcerogenic potential of CJE was also evaluated. The CJE treated animals were protected from ulcer formation whereas indomethacin group of animals showed ulcer formation. The present study indicates that the ethanol extract of Crotalaria juncea exhibit significant antiarthritic and antiulcerogenic activities.

Study on phytochemical profile and anti-ulcerogenic effect of Cayratia pedatata Lam in albino wistar rats
The aim of this study is to evaluate the anti-ulcer activity of chloroform extract of leaves of Cayratia pedata (Lam). The chloroform extract of Cayratia pedata (CECP) was investigated for its anti-ulcer activity against pylorus ligation and ethanol induced gastric ulcers in rats. Ranitidine (50mg/kg,p.o.) and misoprostol (100ug/kg,p.o.) were used as standard drugs. A significant (p<0.01) anti-...
full textAnti-inflammatory Activity of Morus indica Linn
Anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Morus indica Linn. was studied in wistar rats using the carrageenan induced left hind paw edema, carrageenan induced pleurisy and cotton pellet induced granuloma model. The ethanolic extract (100 mg/kg, p.o.) inhibited carrageenan induced rat paw edema. It also showed an inhibitory effect on leukocyte migration and a reduction...
full textScreening of Anti-inflammatory Potential of Cissampelos Pareira Linn Leaves Extract in Albino Rats
Anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic extract of the Cissampelos pariera Linn leaves was studied in albino wistar rats using the carrageenan induced rat paw edema model. The ethanolic extract of Cissampelos pariera (400 mg/kg p.o.) inhibited carrageenan induced rat paw edema. The extract was also studied for its preliminary phytochemical screening and acute toxicity studies. The result in...

Chantaleela recipe is indicated for relieving fever in Thai traditional folk medicine. In the present study, Chantaleela recipe was investigated for anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and anti-ulcerogenic activities. In preliminary investigation Chantaleela recipe was found to exert an inhibitory activity on the acute phase of inflammation as seen in ethyl phenylpropiolate-induced ear ed...
full textAnalgesic and Anti-inflammatory Activity of Physalis angulata Linn. (Solanaceae) Leaf Methanolic Extract in Swiss Albino Mice
Physalis angulata is a medicinal plant used for the treatment of malaria, ulcer, pains and other diverse ailments. The present study evaluated the analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity of methanolic leaf extract of the plant. Acetic acid-induced abdominal contraction or writhing analgesic models in Swiss albino mice (13-23g) were used for studying analgesic activity of the leaf extract. 200,...
